The following list gives you an idea of what is expected of our members. Staff has the final say on rule violations and disciplinary actions. As a member of this site, you are expected to accept their decisions. This list covers content and actions that are allowed/not allowed on our site. Do not defy Staff's expressed wishes; a Staff's word is final.

1.  When you receive a message from Staff, you have to read and/or answer in the shortest possible time. If you do not answer or read within 24 hours your account may be disabled.
2.  This site does not allow swearing, hate speech, sexual references, religious statements, aggressive or offensive behaviour of any kind. Neither does it allow potentially or actually offensive usernames/mail addresses. If you are not sure whether you can say or do something, then don’t.
3.  The site allows only ONE account per person.  Anyone attempting to set up more than one account will be permanently banned.
4.  Keep your overall ratio at or above 0.5 at all times!  All downloads must be seeded for at least 48 hours. (See the downloading rules for more detail)
5.  No Winzip or rar files are allowed
6.  EXTERNAL LIVE LINKS are NOT allowed anywhere in the site  or in the torrents.
7.  Only staff can delete torrents
8.  We are a English only site, so please use only English!  Please do remember, however, that English is not the first language of some of our members and allowances need to be made for members writing in what well may be their second, third or fourth language.
9.  Account Profile: Please fill correctly, ie 0 age not accepted.
10. If using seedbox or Shared server please contact us and tell a Staff member.  
11. Signed in and if no activity after one week your account will be deleted.

2.  All torrents must be seeded for a minimum of 48 hours.
If you do not observe this rule, then you will be considered to be a “hit and runner”; in that event, a warning will be sent; you may be limited to “seed only” until your downloads have met the site requirements or, in the case of repeat offending, your account will be disabled.

3. VIP torrents can only be downloaded by VIP users.  It is possible to attain VIP status by making a donation to the site.

4. This is a SHARING site; please continue to seed files for as long as you are able, even if  no-one is leeching from you.  Also, please be prepared to reseed your downloads when so requested.

5. All torrents must be downloaded completely.[/color]
A user that does not complete the torrent can be warned the first time and disabled the second time.

This is on the home page of the site; we would love it if members came in to say "hello" and to have a chat!
The shoutbox is NOT to be used as a searchbox, there is a link for that!

If you make a Request or Search in the Shoutbox you will be suspended for a week and your Passkey will be reset. If this happens repeatedly your account WILL be deleted! An option to delete a wrong shout is available, use it!

All members are allowed to upload to the site.  However, any torrents which do not follow the guidelines set forth in these rules are subject to being deleted at the discretion of the staff.

ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN on EBS

1. Pornography, sex or erotica - we are not being judgemental but  this is a family site and, as such, certain books are totally unsuitable.

2. Bomb making or illegal firearms production materials.

3. Material that depicts the shooting of a human being will not be allowed.

4. Material promoting illegal drugs, Any title concerning drugs is strictly forbidden.

5. Material promoting racism or any other sort of ethnic hatred is not allowed.

6. Material depicting or advocating human sacrifice.

This is a list of what the staff looks for when checking new torrent uploads. These checklist steps are more or less in an order of priority:

1. Creating a torrent

Three very important rules to follow when creating a torrent are:

a. Make sure that DHT is disabled in your torrent client

b. Private Torrent must be ticked in your torrent client

c. Each torrent may only include the Ebooks-shares tracker.   Do not include any others.

Before starting, consider that large uploads (collections) or uploads in multiple formats may be better split into smaller torrents. It will be a faster upload and people seed the smaller uploads longer.

2. A torrent description is essential when uploading a torrent.  

a. In the title line, please ensure that you include the author, title and type of file (mobi, epub, MP3 abridged/unabridged) in parenthesis at the end of the title – [mobi] [MP3 unab] etc.

b. In the image line, make sure that you include a saved image of the cover.  Live links to images are not allowed.  

Please note images with the inside arrow are not allowed. The maximum allowed size is 500x500 pixels

c. In the “language” line, click the correct box.  Non-English books ARE allowed on this site.

d. In the description area, include a summary of the subject matter of the upload.  This may be copied from sites providing such material.

e. Include information on the narrator of audio books, the length of the book/video, the position of any book in a series.

f. If a book/audio book falls into the realms of “steamy romance” the description MUST be headed with “Adult Content” warnings.

g. Is the torrent in the proper category?

h. Once uploaded, please remember to download your torrent and add it to your client, then CHECK that it is seeding.

i. Has the torrent exceeded site size limitations?  The maximum size for any torrent is 4.7GB. (VIP torrents may exceed this limit with Director approval.)  Staff are allowed to upload file sizes larger then 4.7GB to a maximum of 15GB in the VIP area only but this must be seeded for a minimum of 60 days and after that the uploader must check each time they visit for reseeds.

j. VIP torrents can be uploaded only by VIP users and above. Users and Power Users can not upload VIP Torrents.

3. Duplicates

Before uploading a torrent you need to check that this is not already present on the site. Any duplicates will be deleted.

4. Formats

Only allowed formats may be uploaded to EBS.  These are as follows:

a. Ebooks and comics.

pdf, .pdb, .mobi, .lit, .djvu, .txt, .rtf, .doc, .docx, .html, .epub, .chm .skp .cbr,.cbz, cbt and cb7 comic book reader

Also are allowed azw, azw1 and azw3 but only if the DRM is off

NOTE: .lrf files are discouraged as they have the capability of reporting back to a server when accessed. It is requested that uploaders convert these to another allowed format before uploading.

b. Audio:

mp3, .wma, .wav, .flac, .au, .ape, .ogg, .m4a, .m4b, .ra, .wv

c. Video:

.mpg, .vob, .avi (XviD, Divx), .mov, .wmv, .flv, .mkv, .asf, .rm, .mp4

NOTE. xls file types are also only allowed with directors approval, the uploader must pm a director prior to uploading and be 100% sure the files are safe.

5. Forbidden file formats

1. All compressed formats/archive including

rar, .zip, .mht, .lzh, .7z, .uif, .daa, .arj, .gz, .ace, .cab, .bz2, .tar, .tar.gz, .tar.bz2, .uue, .jar,
z (Unix), .tif.

2. Off-site promotional files

.nfo, txt and so on (such as Demonoid, etc) are NOT allowed.  Please check uploaded files and remove any such files.

3. Executable file formats (.exe etc]

4. Password protected and/or DRM files

Disc image files are only allowed with Site Director permission under special circumstances.  

Allowed Content

All content is allowed with the exception of the materials listed in the "Absolutely forbidden" list above.

However, please note that only religious material intended as study references is allowed. Since religion is a broad area with many ambiguities, it is advised that members contact a member of staff before uploading questionable material in this area.

Gunsmithing and reloading techniques manuals are allowed but it is advised that uploaders check with staff first.

Technical and specifications manuals for firearms are allowed.

Historical materials about guns are allowed.

Languages-other-than-English are allowed on EBS

1. Only books by the same Author or along the same series, and totalling 3 or more books should be placed in the collections category.

2. Any collection over 1GB is to be made VIP

3. Any collection under 1GB in size is to be broken up into 200mb sets of books by the uploader and put into the relevant Collection Category.

4. For all the collections of 200mb and below we will have a new Category of “Collections” with sub categories i.e. Children's books, thrillers, Same author etc etc

5. A single title when uploaded will not be classed as a duplicate if it is in a collection already. If a collection has a title in it that has already been uploaded this will not count as a duplicate either.

1. Spamming is strictly forbidden.
 
2. There is to be no aggressive behaviour or flaming in the forums.

3. We do not allow links to warez or crack sites in the forums. No requests or posting of serials, CD keys, passwords or cracks will be allowed.

4. Public or private threads advertising other sites or recruiting members for other sites are forbidden.

5.  All bumped threads will be deleted.

6.  No double posting. If you wish to post again, and yours is the last post in the thread please use the EDIT function.

7. No Excel files are to be used;  use text files for your torrent lists.

8. Links to files residing on other sites should NEVER be posted.

9. Please ensure all questions are posted in the correct section.

We welcome members requesting books that are not presently on the site providing that they are not on the forbidden authors list and not pornographic in nature.

Please be aware that we recommend that any member who has a request filled should be prepared to make a contribution towards the upkeep of the site.  Meeting requests takes time and effort, and saves members a great deal.  Fair is fair!!

Before making a request search the site by author AND by title as well as the currently unfilled requests, to make sure what you're requesting is not already onsite or already requested.

Please use the Requests forum - NOT the shoutbox!

A request MUST include:

** Complete title
** Author
** ISBN/ASIN
** Date Published
** Non-Live Link to Amazon or similar site showing that it is available in ebook/audio format.

A good site to quickly verify if a book is available in ebook format is books.google.com
If no ebook presently exists there will be a mention in the left margin: No eBook available.

If we have a book on site but it is unavailable due to lack of seeding (it is dead), you can ask for a reseed.  Requests for reseeds or seeding of torrents should be made on the torrent details page.

Please make sure you are leeching the torrent for 24 hours before making any reseed request.

The allowed format is .jpg, size : 80x80 pixels.
Do not use potentially offensive material involving porn, religious material, animal/human cruelty or ideologically charged images.
If you are not sure whether an avatar is offensive, send a PM to a staffer.

Power User:
When a Member reaches the necessary requirements they will be promoted to the top ranks of Power User.

The requirements for passing are:

- 30 gigabytes of uploads
- 28 days minimum stay in the rank of Member
- ratio Up/Dl least 1.05

Uploader:
Uploaders are the lifeblood of our site.

To earn the rank of Uploader a user must:
- Upload more than 10 torrents
- Be a member at least 60 days
- Upload at least one book every 90 days

If an Uploader fails to upload a book in any 90 day period (unless their account is parked) they will lose their status. If their account is parked, on their return they must upload a book within 30 days. Users may earn the rank of Uploader earlier at the discretion of the staff (e.g. a new member who uploads a significant number of books).

None of the files shown here are hosted on our server. The links are provided solely by this site's users. These file links are meant for the distribution of backup files. By downloading the file, you are claiming that you own the original file. The administrator & moderators of this site (www.ebooks-shares.org) holds NO RESPONSIBILITY if these files are misused in any way and cannot be held responsible for what users post, or any other actions of the users.
